Veggie Van FAQs
What does the ‘van’ look like?
It’s actually a street-legal neighborhood electric vehicle. It’s similar to an electric golf cart, open to the air, but modified to allow for the transport, display and sale of fresh produce.
What will be available for purchase, and how expensive will it be?
Our goal will be to offer the freshest produce priced very competitively, similar to what you pay at the grocer’s. In addition to offering vegetables for sale by weight or volume just like at the store, we’ll also sell very tasty menu kits: everything you need to make a specially selected, farm-fresh meal or side dish (not just the recipe; the ingredients too!) at a fixed, very reasonable cost.
What days/times will the Veggie Van be by, and on what routes?
We’ll run on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, making our rounds late in the day, when people are arriving home from work (or perhaps getting ready to grill!) For a map of our geographic reach, click here.
Why have a Veggie Van?
We know that Arvada residents have repeatedly shown strong support for local agriculture initiatives. A variety of efforts by others already underway -- including the City of Arvada, the successful Arvada Farmer’s Market and multiple community gardens and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) sites -- do much to increase access to fresh, healthy food for all. We at Ride Provide believe the Veggie Van will provide another valued service toward this end and will also support the local growers, helping to broaden the demand for their produce so they can thrive too.
